North Carolina Trout Fishing Regulatons
All of North Carolina's Public Mountain Trout Waters are managed by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Although some of these waters are designated as Public Mountain Trout Waters, others are not. Of those waters that are designated as Public Mountain Trout Waters, the NCWRC (North Carolina Wildlife Recources Commission) designates six different categories; each of which is managed under different regulations. On those waters that are not designated, Hatchery Supported regulations apply. In addition, some Public Mountain Trout Waters are located on Game Lands which consist of both public property and private property that is open to the public through the generosity of the land owner. So, when trout fishing on Game Lands, please respect the rights of the property owner and remove all trash so that these streams will remain available to anglers in the future.
