The state of North Carolina has seven different types of designated Public Mountain Trout Waters and each designated water is marked with diamond shaped metal signs attached to trees along the trail, stream or lake. Thus, when fishing these waters, it is important to pay attention to these signs and follow the regulations listed on each sign.
